These heavy-duty patches come with high-performance adhesive that has been applied to a durable polyurethane backing that lets a tear heal under pressure. Available in clear or color options they offer a long-lasting protection against moisture, punctures, sunlight, saltwater and temperature extremes.

If your kit doesn't include any of the above items, think about including a bag of waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. The water-tight adhesive bonds to metals and fabrics for an unbreakable fix. It's great for repairing drysuits and may be applied out in the field. Allow the sealant to set for at least 12 hours prior to using your repaired gear.

The most essential field fabric repair kit for nylon tents with silicone impregnated, packs, rainwear and more. It includes one Clean Tape repair patch and a sil-nylon swatch. Also included is a 1/4 ounce Gore-Tex Repair Adhesive, Sealant and Brush for sealing. To use, place patch over a smooth, clean surface of the damaged area with a minimum of 1/2 inch overlap. Remove release paper and rub adhesive side down using a gentle pressure.

Surface preparation is vital for a successful repair; oils on boots or shoes, sunblock or solvents like acetone can impact adhesion. For best results, apply Seam Grip alone or with Cotol-240 Cure Accelerator to speed curing time up to 2 hours.

Utilize the tube-scuffer to roughen up the surface. This will aid the glue stick. Spread a thin layer of glue on the patch. Cover the area with a layer that is at least big as the patch. Allow the glue to get tacky and then press the patch in firmly and hold it in place.
