Bunk Beds Add Style and Character to Kids' Rooms

Bunk beds add style and character to children's rooms. They come in a variety of styles and configurations, from the classic twin full and futon, to the L-shaped.

The majority of bunks have ladders that are much easier to climb than stairs and do not take up floor space. Some bunks have a fixed staircase while others have ladders on the left or right side of the long bunk.

Size

There are a variety of sizes of bunk beds that accommodate the needs of all families. The standard bunk Quadruple Bed consists of two twin mattresses placed over one another vertically. However, other sizes like full, queen or twin XL can also be used. Additionally the height of the top mattress can be adjusted to increase or decrease the distance between sleepers and the ceiling.

Some manufacturers recommend that there is at least 6-8 inches of clearance between the mattress's bottom and the top of the slats. This will ensure that the top sleepers have enough space to move around and not fall on their heads against the ceiling when getting in or out of bed. A railing for protection is typically installed at the bottom of the mattress to prevent the risk of falling while asleep.

Triple bunks are available in many different designs and configurations. The configuration typically consists of a twin bed at the bottom and two full beds that are stacked vertically. This kind of bunk bed is perfect for siblings who share a room or for summer camps, and college dormitories which require students to be in a shared space.
