Robert Farrell, born in Brooklyn, New York, was the eldest of seven youngsters. He grew to become chargeable for his youthful siblings when his mother Emma Johnson Farrell died. Robert was a scientific prodigy, and when he realized he could not earn enough to help his household, he turned to a life of crime because the Rocket Racer.

Rocket Racer[]

As Rocket Racer he snatched a courier's bulging briefcase. Spider-Man couldn't stop him as a result of he was shifting too quick on his rocket powered skateboard. Later, Rocket Racer was saved by Spider-Man from the Bounty Hunter.[7]

University Scholarship[]

He became a member of the Outlaws.[8] Later Spider-Man gave him a break and he took a highschool equivalence take a look at which garnered him an ideal rating. This test allowed him a special scholarship to Empire State University. At one point he fought one other college student known as Eddie the Cross who was a white supremacist. He was again employed by Sable to cease the Speed Demon.[11] He joined Spider-Man and the Outlaws towards the Avengers and the Space Phantom,[12][13] He was again employed along with the Outlaws to retrieve a Symkarian nuclear gadget in the United Kingdom.[14] He was employed by Sable to stop a runaway subway upkeep robot.[15] Farrell later joined the Outlaws to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Canadian official.[16][13][17] Farrell grew to become an everyday visitor of the Bar With No Name.[18] He teamed up with Monica Rambeau to battle Skinhead.[19]

Great Game[]

Seeing as he wasn't getting much work from Silver Sable, rocket racers Farrell determined to get into the great Game together with the Prowler. Rather than following the sport's rules, Robert and Hobie staged a struggle and meant to cut up the earnings. They were focused by another participant named el Toro Negro, who blasted them with a bazooka. Prowler shielded Robert from the ensuing fall, resulting in Rocket Racer surviving with only a damaged arm, whereas Hobie broke most of his bones and fell into a coma.[20]

Troy[]

Henry Sleeman was hired by an unnamed employer to befriend Farrell and steal his Rocket Racer tech. He did so, taking the title "Troy" and befriending him for months. When Farrell finally showed him the gear he knocked him out and stole it, pursuing Spider-Man with the intention of combating him, only to be defeated when restaurateur Harry Sloane opened a door at just the precise time for "Troy" to run into the door and knock himself unconscious.[21]

Farrell briefly joined Tombstone's prison squad together with Big Ben and Hypno-Hustler where they offered Tombstone some safety while he underwent a coronary heart bypass.[22]

50-State Initiative[]

He was recruited into the 50-State Initiative.[23] As a registered hero, he reported to Camp Hammond for training.[24]

M.O.D.O.K.'s 11[]

Despite his attempts to reform, Farrell wanted money to help his comatose mother and stop the repossession of their residence. He joined the M.O.D.O.K.'s 11 a bunch of villains formed by M.O.D.O.K. The workforce consisted of Armadillo, Chameleon, Living Laser, Mandarin, Mentallo, Nightshade (who he seemingly had a crush on), Puma, Monica Rappaccini, Spot, and the Ultra-Adaptoid. He was tempted back into crime, and decreased to a state of stuttering nervousness by the situation.[25] However, he turned out to have been working for S.H.I.E.L.D., by way of Derek Khanata all alongside, with a deal that they might give him the money he wanted in return for the Hypernova,[2] but he failed on this and it is unknown but what happened together with his mother.[26]

Battling the brand new Avengers[]

New Avengers Iron Fist and Spider-Woman tried to take him down after he committed a robbery.[27]

Avengers Academy[]

Transportation

Jet-Powered Skateboard: Rocket Racer makes use of a jet-powered skateboard with gyroscopic stabilizers, and magnetic boots that keep him connected to the board. The skateboard also adheres to vertical and inverted surfaces. The board is cybernetically controlled via the Rocket Racer's head-set.[31]

Big Wheel: Rocket Racer has used this as a getaway car.[2]

Trivia

- In 2006, writer Rick Remender pitched a Rocket Racer sequence to Marvel and it was greenlit. However, after all the sequence had been outlined, it was immediately canceled.[32]
